Workshop Information

The CPS Workshops are specifically designed to assist you as a parent in the years before compulsory schooling.

Please ensure that you use the online registration form as soon as possible to book in for these sessions. You can email: workshops@canberrapreschoolsociety.org or telephone the CPS office on 62862527 for more information.

All Training Sessions and Workshops are held at the Centre for Teaching and Learning, Fremantle Drive, Stirling.

"How-To" Parent Association Workshops

Seek to support you in your role on committee during the year and handouts are provided for reference (refer to following page for program). Information from these workshops are usually made available on our website once the sessions are complete.

Workshops cover:  Treasurer's - Getting Started, Managing Committees, Ensuring a Successful Year, Treasurer's - Finalising the Year, and Managing the Handover.

All these workshops are held at the Centre for Teaching and Learning, Fremantle Drive, Stirling.

Early Years Parenting Workshops

Facilitated by Janice Schroder & Carolyn Harkness (Part of the Early Childhood Team - Australian Catholic University)

The Early Years Workshops are designed to support your role as a parent in the playschool or preschool year. They are run by Early Childhood lecturers who have experience in many different early years settings: Playgroups, Playschool, Preschool and Primary School.

Workshops cover: How do children learn from play? How to nurture your child's wellbeing? Why do they always ask "why"? Getting Ready for Kindy?

All these workshops are held at the Centre for Teaching and Learning, Fremantle Drive, Stirling.

Any of these workshops can be run at your centre for a small cost of $5 per person.

Indigenous Successful Learning Workshops

Presented in collaboration with the Australian Parents Council, the Australian Catholic University and funded through the Australian Government. This is a residential workshop, that is FREE to Indigenous families. Providing you with an opportunity to spend two days together, as a family, with experienced workshop presenters and early childhood educators.

While your children enjoy a specifically designed care and activity program – you and your partner can attend a set of 3 workshops across 2 days on how young Indigenous children: CAN learn at home and school, CAN learn to read, and CAN learn to write.

This program will help parents and carers of Indigenous children (ages 0 – 8 years) learn about how schools help children to learn, read and write learn, how to understand some of the language schools use so that you can be better equipped to be a part of you child’s education, and learn how you CAN help at home.

All these workshops will be held on the 7th to 9th of April at Warrambui Retreat and Conference Centre. 322 Greenwood Road, Murrumbateman NSW 2582. Other dates and locations will become available.
