CPS 65th Birthday
Toward 2020 Review

Preparing the entry

Subject
One of the most interesting things about playschool and preschool art is its diversity. The CPS logo uses the phrase "Growing Children" - so that's why the entry to our CPS 65th Birthday Art Exhibition can be about anything.

Size of artwork or box construction
Your artwork entry should not be smaller than A4 (29.7cm x 21.0cm). Your artwork is to be mounted onto an A3 (297mm x 420mm) piece of heavyweight (minimum 280GSM) card
. Your box-construction entry must be firmly adhered to an A4 (29.7cm x 21.0cm) piece of heavy-weight (minimum 280GSM) cardboard (or an A4-sized portion of a recycled cardboard box) - which will limit its size to A4! However, it can be as tall as you feel it needs to be, as long as it supports itself! Framed entries will not be accepted

Use of Materials
Any type of paper, white, coloured, rough or smooth can be used. The work that is submitted may be drawn or painted in pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, crayon, pastel, watercolour, gouache, acrylics, oils, poster colour and collage. Alternatively, it may be submitted in digital format in any artwork software. Prints created from a lino block, wood blocks or any other methods may also be submitted. Box-construction entries - use imagination and anything that comes to hand at the time!

Number of Entries
You may submit one entry per individual playschool or preschool group.

Confirmation of Entry
The Preschool or Playschool teacher is required to confirm the entry on or before Friday 31st October 2008 (a week before the artwork is to be delivered). This allows the CPS to be able to organise enough volunteers to set up the Exhibition and to design the display space. The following information MUST BE INCLUDED both in the confirmation of entry and on the back of the entry itself:

  • Artist's name, age, category (artwork or box-construction), title of entry.
  • Playschool or Preschool, name, address, telephone number and teacher's name (if applicable).
  • Home address and telephone number.
  • Signature of the artist's parent, teacher or guardian.

* Please note your age as of the closing date for confirmation of entry to the CPS 65th Birthday Art Exhibition is Friday, 31st October, 2008.

Please note that it will be up to the Playschool or Preschool group to arrange delivery of the artwork or box-construction to the ACT Legislative Assembly on Friday the 7th November, 2008.

Exhibition confirmation of entries should be sent to:
CPS 65th Birthday Art Exhibition,
PO Box 59, Mawson ACT 2607
Or, alternatively emailed to: canberrapreschools@bigpond.com

Delivery of entries:
All entries are to be hand-delivered to the ACT Legislative Assembly Reception (London Circuit, Civic)

Return of entries:

  • Due to limited funding, NO ARTWORK CAN BE RETURNED. The CPS suggests that specific arrangements be made for the artwork to be picked up on the last day of the Exhibition, anything that is not picked up will be taken to the CPS Office.
  • Please note that any artwork submitted, together with the artist's details (first name, age, name of preschool/playschool) may be placed on the Canberra Museum & Gallery website, or used in any CPS printed publicity and/or placed on the CPS Website during or post this year’s Exhibition and for future Exhibitions
