10 Handy Hints for Volunteering in a
Preschool Parent Association
- Know what you want to achieve before you
try to achieve it.
- Discuss what you want
to do with those who are important to you before you decide to do it.
- Know what resources you have and what you
need to get yet, including human resources.
- Don’t limit yourself in thinking about
where those resources will come from. Corporate volunteering is growing
throughout the world. Corporations can give their staff’s time as well
as in kind resources and money and are more likely to do the former
now.
- Spend time building yourself up and
taking care of yourself and each other - a car doesn’t run on empty and
neither do you.
- “Thank you” is 2 little words but also
very big ones.
- Stop every once and again to ask yourself
how you are going, involve all those who are important to you in that
exercise.
- Don’t be afraid of mistakes and
constructive criticism as this is one way we can learn.
- Have fun and most importantly of all -
- Listen to the children.
