| Advantages ...
The CPS is often the first opportunity for parents to be actively involved in framing their child’s education. We
bring together families and professionals who are focused upon the
non-compulsory years of education – in a manner that retains
consistency and the opportunity to build further networks to the
benefit of our children. We strengthen
the commitment to working to ensure that the non-compulsory education
years remain an accessible, high quality and low cost educational
program for the entire community, regardless of where they may choose
to send their child for compulsory, and more “formal” schooling. We are user focused, involving the wider community, supporting children through the non-compulsory years of care and education. We
draw in, through collaboration, other community groups to the benefit
of its members – supporting programs such as the establishment of
3-year-old playschools and 0-5 year old playgroups. We
are experienced and have been doing these things for a very long time
here in Canberra. 2008 marked our 65th anniversary. This provides a
great deal of reassurance on our ability to cut across political,
educational, organisational and departmental boundaries for the purpose
of our advocacy.
