CPS Guidelines for Achieving Preschool Amalgamation and Closure (pdf 201kb) Aware that there were no guidelines for Preschool Paent Associations to manage the potential of amalgamation or closure, the CPS President and the CPS Co-ordinator (now Exectuive Officer) wrote these guidelines in cooperation with the ACT DET. However, upon the final stage of Departmental approval, the guidelines were placed with the ACT Government Solicitor's Office - as the document accurately describes the contractual "legalities" that placed the individual Preschool Parent Association into a position whereby it could recommend the closure and/or amalgamation of an "un-viable" preschool (where there were not enough enrolments (or parents) to manage legal responsibilities in accordance with it's historial contractual agreement). To date, the document has not "re-emerged" from the Government Solicitor's Office.

|
CPS Beyond 2020 Proposal Aware that many of the changes to the delivery of preschool education in the ACT would require a broader representational role, the 2006 CPS Council proposed that the Canberra Preschool Society shift it's constitutional aims from "preschool" to the internationally recognised term of "early childhood" - encompassing an interest in children from birth to eight years of age. This proposal supported the individual Parent Assoication's right to respond to needs of their own preschool community - it did not dictate nor require that the Preschool Parent Associations to shift their focus from "preschool" to "early childhood". |
