Ainslie (Baker Gardens) Preschool Parent Association
History Ainslie (Baker Gardens) Preschool Parent Association began in late 1940's.
Ainslie (Baker Gardens) Preschool opened in June 1950* - shortly after the Preschool Parent
Association reached the financial target as set by the ACT Government
of the day. Building Community Preschools
in the Act are jointly provided through a unique and positive
collaboration between each individual Preschool Parent Association and
the ACT Government. The
Preschool Parent Association owns and is completely responsible for the
provision and management of
the preschool's teaching and educational resources and for the day-to-day financial
and operational management of preschool. The
ACT Government through the
Department of Education and Training provide the excellent teaching staff and purpose-built facilites. All parents with enrolled
children automatically become members of the Preschool Parent Association. Children from Ainslie (Baker Gardens) Preschool may go on to attend either Ainslie Primary School or St Thomas More's Catholic Primary School.

Strengthening the Preschool Community Your participation is valued enormously. There are many ways that you can support your child’s preschool education.
- Offering to help in the class on a roster basis with small group activities, craft, reading to the children, cooking.
- Participating on the laundry roster once or twice a term.
- Excursions
– for all excursions we are required to have 1 adult per 4 children.
This means for each excursion we need at least 5 parents to accompany
us. In full support of the early childhood family environment -
the Parent Association arranges for personal accident insurance for
your and your preschooler's younger siblings to participate in these
exciting adventures!
- Sharing special skills and interests, playing an instrument, pottery, carpentry.
- Making the mutually agreed voluntary resourcing donation or participating in the fund-raising.
- Getting together the rest of the preschool community at the monthly meetings - Keep up to date with what is happening at preschool and be a
part of the decision making on how your contributions and fundraising
are spent.
- Nominating to be a part of the Parent
Association Committee.
